Hadley Suter is a Lecturer in French at Barnard College. She holds a B.A. in French Literature from Barnard and a Ph.D. in French & Francophone Studies from the University of California, Los Angeles. She specializes in 19^th-century literature and culture, and is completing a book manuscript entitled “Becoming Stendhal: The Performance of Authenticity and the Making of a Novelist.” She has also taught French at Columbia and UCLA.
