Funds tuition for graduate study at the London School of Economics

The Alumni and Friends of the London School of Economics (LSE) awards at least one scholarship each year to a U.S. citizen or permanent resident who is going to begin graduate study at LSE in the following academic year. The scholarship usually covers the cost of tuition for the recipient’s degree course, but recipients must bear other expenses associated with their study.

Recipients are selected on the basis of academic merit and financial need, and there are no restrictions as to an applicant’s age, field of study, or proposed degree course at LSE. The scholarship is only available to candidates who will be attending LSE for the first time or who have only attended a summer course at LSE—current and former LSE students are not eligible.

There is no separate application for this award. Candidates must first apply for admission to LSE, and the school will identify eligible candidates through its Graduate Merit Awards selection process. U.S. citizens or permanent residents applying to LSE must simply check the appropriate box in their Graduate Support Scheme applications. LSE admits students on a rolling basis to most graduate programs, so eligible applicants are encouraged to apply well before the March deadline for most degrees.
