Josephine de Kármán Fellowships provide educational support to outstanding college and university students for the final year of their degree programs, in any field of study, provided the study will be carried out in the U.S.
At least ten fellowships will be awarded each year. Undergraduate recipients will be awarded $14,000, and graduate student recipients will be awarded $22,000. Fellowships are for one year only and may not be renewed.
Undergraduate candidates must be in the penultimate year of a bachelor’s degree program in the U.S., and graduate student candidates must be in the penultimate year of a Ph.D. program in the U.S. International students may apply provided they are enrolled in U.S. institutions at the time of application and during the fellowship year.
Undergraduate candidates should have exceptional academic records and letters of recommendation, and ideally they will have a record that includes some original research or scholarship. While the competition is open to students in any field, special consideration may be given to those in the humanities.
