Eugene Group Korea Scholarships provide support to Columbia College rising sophomores, juniors and seniors to study, intern or research in South Korea during the summer. Each fellowship provides up to $5000 to defray transportation, housing and living costs associated with taking on a study abroad program, internship or research while abroad. The fellowship gives Columbia College students the chance to pursue intellectual goals, gain valuable research and study experience, learn Korean and engage with their local Korean community during the summer.
Applicants proposing an independent research project must secure a CU Faculty Mentor, who will supervise their research before, during and after the research period in Korea, and write a letter to confirm their willingness to do so. For those proposing to take on a summer internship in Korea, a letter stating the position, number of hours and weeks for the position, and willingness to supervise the work, must be submitted on the candidate's behalf.
Students of all disciplines in Columbia College are encouraged to apply, with preference given to non-residents of Korea. If you receive a Eugene Group Korea Scholarship, you may be asked to speak at an information session for interested students next year.
