Eligibility: CU Undergrads and Visiting Undergraduates Application Notes: Full year applicants are given priority, KCJS member students should check with their home schools about internal (earlier) deadlines
Program Description:

  • Intensive Japanese language study and the opportunity to choose from a broad spectrum of social sciences and humanities courses on premodern and contemporary Japan.
  • Courses that integrate the historical and cultural resources of Kyoto into the curriculum through excursions, field trips, and guest lectures.
  • Living with a Japanese family, taking classes with Japanese students, and participating in a wide array of extracurricular activities outside of the KCJS.
  • Full-time on-site staff to assist students with academic and personal needs.

Applications for the fall and academic year are generally available by November and are due in mid-February.

Applications for the spring semester are generally available by April and due in mid-September.

  • Application Fee, if applicable
  • Visa application materials including copy of valid passport and passport photos for spring applicants only
