Salut og góðan daginn! I am a senior in Columbia College majoring in Sustainable Development and concentrating in French & Francophone Studies. I spent the spring of 2018 studying abroad in Paris, France and this past summer studying in Iceland. In Paris, I lived with a host mom, whom I adore, and took classes that allowed me to explore the city and its outskirts– a trip to the Louvre every other week was not at all out of the ordinary. Eating crêpes, meeting locals, and, of course, improving my French are just a few of the things that I loved doing while there. After a brief hiatus back home, I spent 7 weeks traveling around Iceland and studying renewable energy with SIT. Between sitting in class, visiting power plants, and going on hikes, the program provided a truly immersive group experience that allowed us to delve into the beautifully unique Icelandic landscape and culture. Completing a research project also helped me set the stage for my senior thesis. Both of my experiences abroad were so amazing that I know they will stay with me throughout my future endeavors.
