Hi all! My name is Chase, and I’m a current senior in Columbia College, where I’m studying philosophy with a concentration in French and Francophone Studies. In the spring of 2023, I participated in the Columbia in Paris French Immersion Program, where I studied at Reid Hall in Montparnasse and lived in a homestay with a French family in Paris’ 7th arrondissement.

In Paris, I was able to take courses on French politics, gender studies, art and the French language with local professors, tour French museums like the Louvre (and my personal favorite, the Gustave Moreau Museum) with classmates, and attend local plays, lectures, screenings and other events at Reid Hall and in the city. My handle on French, which I started learning in my first year at Columbia to fulfill the language requirement, improved drastically, and I found the fève in two consecutive galettes during the Epiphany festivities in January, starting my year off with a conspicuous amount of luck and two cardboard crowns.
