Hello Everyone! I’m Zipporah- an International student from London and a sophomore studying Film and English at CC! This past summer I participated in Columbia’s Core in Paris program, taking both Art and Music Humanities.

During the course, I studied at Reid Hall and lived in a dorm-style residence in Montparnasse, a central location in Paris with easy access and transportation systems. I was able to attend the Opera, the Ballet, paint in Monet’s gardens, and take a boat trip at Fontainebleau. In my free time, I visited local art galleries (free for students!), and enjoyed cultural events such as Bastille Day and Fête de la Musique with friends!

In regards to Art and Music, I felt my perspective broadened and developed - helping me to understand and appreciate artistic content in a new form. I found myself getting lost within the artwork in the Louvre and Musee D’Orsay, carrying my sketchbook and pencil as a tool and canvas. It was inspiring to grow not only as an individual but as a cohort of passionate students and now, long-term friends. Being immersed in Parisian arts and culture and surrounded by a wonderful cohort made this an experience of a lifetime.
