Acceptance Materials
Congratulations on your acceptance to the Berlin Consortium for German Studies for fall 2008!
You have a lot to do before you leave for Berlin. Below you will find links to forms and information. Please read ALL information carefully. It is extremely important that you submit all forms by the stated deadlines; not doing so could jeopardize your participation in the program.
The items listed below are of primary importance as you begin your preparations. Please read the BCGS Handbook carefully, as it will answer many of your initial questions. Please read all of the instructions for the various required items carefully.
The items below are due at our office by April 30, 2008 unless otherwise noted. This means that we must receive
them on or before April 30, 2008.
Most of the items below need to be received as a hardcopy by mail or
scanned and emailed, since we need an original
signature or document for our records. However, there are a few items which are
informational and do not require a signature, so you have the additional option
of sending them as a regular email. The parenthetical note next to each item
indicates the way it needs to be received in our office. All items may be mailed or physically delivered to our office in hardcopy form.
- Intent to Enroll and Program Fee (hardcopy)
- Guest Stay Questionnaire (mail, scan, or email)
- One recent photo of yourself (mail or scan)
- Freie Universität Berlin Enrollment Information (mail, scan, or email)
- Antrag auf Immatrikulation/Enrollment Application (hardcopy original only)
- Participant Information Sheet (mail or scan)
- Terms of Participation (mail or scan)
- Transcript Request Form (Visiting Students only - mail or scan)
- Internship Information, if
applicable(mail, scan, or email)
Due September 2008:
- Tuition Payment, if applicable
German Residence Permit
U.S. citizens do not need a visa to enter Germany. If you are not a US citizen, please check the following website for information to determine any documents you need to enter Germany: http://www.germany.info. Once you are in Germany, you will need to apply for a Residence Permit. While this process will be facilitated by BCGS staff once you are in Berlin, please bring the following items with you to Germany:
- Your original BCGS admissions letters on Columbia University and BCGS letterhead
- Financial Guarantee for Residence Permit
- Bilingual Insurance Letter
