Attend the Bard-Smolny Summer Language Intensive (SLI) Program if you are interested in an immersive experience at the intermediate or advanced level of Russian. You can choose to study for four or eight weeks on the program while living in a homestay.
You attend 22 hours of class per week and regularly complete quizzes, written assignments, and tests. Class sizes are small (typically 8 to 10 students) with course work that emphasizes vocabulary acquisition, grammar comprehension, reading improvement, and writing achievement, as well as verbal and aural precision.
You are expected to sign a language pledge and only speak Russian throughout the experience. You live in a homestay throughout the experience which is a great way to continue developing your language skills. If interested, you have the opportunity to participate in a Russian theater or choir. The program provides tutors and language partners to ensure the most progress in the language possible. Cultural excursions round out the experience.
