Overview

This study abroad program through IFSA allows you to take courses at the University of Sydney, Australia’s oldest university. You can take classes in a variety of subjects, alongside local students. You will live in an off campus apartment complex or an on campus residential college.

Academics

Founded in 1850, The University of Sydney is Australia's first university. Modeled after Oxford University, it is considered one of Australia’s most prestigious universities. Popular subjects include Architecture, Computer Science, Design and Planning, Economics, Engineering, English Language and Literature, History, Psychology and Politics and International Studies. Some subjects have restrictions for visiting students, which you can view on the IFSA Butler website. You will take classes alongside full-degree local students. You will most likely take a traditional course load - four courses worth the equivalent of four Columbia points each.

You should note the different academic calendar in Australia, which varies significantly from the American academic calendar. Approximate dates are available on the IFSA website. IFSA does have an early start/early depart option for USyd but you should look carefully at the list of courses available for this course.
