Overview

This study abroad program through IFSA Butler allows you to take courses at the University of Melbourne, one of Australia’s leading universities. You can take classes in a variety of subjects, alongside local students. You will live in an off campus apartment complex or an on campus residential college.

Academics

Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is the second oldest university in Australia. It is a world-class institution with an international reputation for excellence. With strengths in both teaching and research, the University of Melbourne offers a wide array of courses across the curriculum. Popular subjects include Arts, Australian Studies, Economics, Engineering, Politics and Psychology. Some subjects have restrictions for visiting students, which you can view on the IFSA Butler website. You will take classes alongside full-degree local students. You will most likely take a traditional course load - four courses worth the equivalent of four Columbia points each.

Program Features

Melbourne is a livable, vibrant, green and artistic city in the south of Australia. The University of Melbourne campus is in Parkville, a student-friendly neighborhood in West Melbourne. You will live in either an off campus apartment complex with other program student or in an on-campus residential college. As a visiting student, you will have the access to the University’s student union and student clubs and social activities. IFSA Butler will provide administrative support for your experience. They will offer academic advising, an orientation, activities and excursions.
