Language of Instruction: Spanish
Term: Spring, Fall

Better understand Peruvian Society and History as well as Spanish language courses while studying in Peru

The IFSA Butler program in Lima is a supported enrollment program offered during the fall, spring, and academic year to students with at least 5 semesters of Spanish. Lima is a ocean-side capital city of more than 8 million people. It is a important South American economic and cultural center, and is known throughout the region for its rich history, beautiful setting, arts and cuisine. Students attend one of the most prestigious universities in Latin America (PUC), engaging in community service, a wide variety of course work, an immersive homestay experience while improving their Spanish language abilities.

Academic Program

The program offers a combination of direct enrollment classes at Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Peru (PUC), Spanish language courses, and a core class on contemporary Peruvian Society and History. The PUC is known for having a wide variety of courses that are difficult to find in other universities in Latin America from pottery to mining engineering.

Program Features

While in Peru, students live with host families. IFSA-Butler only places one student per family to ensure that the student is able to fully integrate with the family. Students live with host families in San Isidro and the Miraflores neighborhoods.

Students are encouraged to get involved in community service to learn the most they can about local Peruvian society and issues.

The program takes students on several excursions including to Maccu Picchu, a trip to Caral and to Pachacamac.
