Be part of the Global Leadership Program at Waseda University for an academic year

Overview

The Global Leadership Program (GLP) is a unique exchange program with Waseda University that is designed to cultivate leaders among advanced undergraduates interested in Asia. It is a year-long program taught in English with special curricular elements that allow students to explore topics related to leadership, Asia-American relations, as well as courses in students’ academic discipline. As a GLP Fellow, you live in an international student dormitory located near campus. Housing costs are part of this unique exchange program and thus, you only need to pay for travel, meals, utilities, and incidentals.

Academics

The special curriculum of the GLP includes the U.S.-Japan Zemi and the Global Leadership Fellows Forum. The “Zemi” is a unique Japanese collaborative seminar focused on group projects, field studies, and public presentations. It consists of GLP exchange students from U.S. institutions and Waseda students who have spent the previous year at one of Waseda’s exchange partner institutions in the U.S. The Global Leadership Fellows Forum is a student-led academic community that aims to foster leadership among its cohort and includes group research projects and a field trip to China. As a Fellow, you also have the option to take the remaining courses in the disciplines of your choosing, including Japanese language at the appropriate level.

Program Features

As an option during spring break, you have the chance to participate in a one-month internship experience. Some example internship locations in the past include: The Diet, The Japan Times and the American Chamber of Commerce.
