The DIS Denmark: Study Abroad in Scandinavia program is study center program where you can study a wide range of academic disciplines. You will take courses and take part in domestic and international study tours to enhance your learning. You will have a variety of housing options to choose from, including a homestay and a Danish student dorm.
The DIS Denmark program allows you to choose from hundreds of courses in a variety of subjects. The teaching style at DIS Denmark tends to be hands-on, experiential and utilizes Demark as an extended classroom. You will take most of your courses at the DIS Denmark study center. Popular subjects include Architecture, Economics, Environmental Science, Human Rights, Literature, Political Science, Public Health and Sustainability. You will take a Core Course, plus four electives. Your Core Course will include a domestic and international study tour which will enhance your learning. Each course is equal to 3 Columbia points. You are required to take a Danish Language and Culture course.
You have the option of living in a homestay, a Kollegium (a Danish dorm), the DIS Living and Learning Communities and more. You are not allowed to live in the DIS Residential Communities. You should look at the DIS website to evaluate housing options as they all offer different levels of cultural immersion.
You will be able to integrate into Danish culture through a multitude of activities organized by DIS. Past activities include volunteer opportunities, language and culture workshops, the DIS buddy network, visiting family program and more.

- To apply for Columbia clearance (approval) to study abroad, click on "Start Your Application" on this webpage. Clearance applications are approved by the OGP on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this webpage.
- To apply for program admission, complete an external application directly on the program webpage. Note that this deadline may be in advance of the Columbia clearance deadline.
- This is a popular program and tends to fill prior to the application deadline. You are encouraged to start an application on the program’s website as soon as you can and complete it four to six weeks prior to the stated deadline.
