The IFSA program in Buenos Aires, is a supported enrollment program offered in the fall, spring, and academic year to students who have studied at least 5 semesters of Spanish. Students live in cosmopolitan Buenos Aires, while taking courses at up to four prestigious Argentine universities. Students live in a carefully selected homestay, participate in excursions and cultural events all while improving their Spanish language skills.
Students on the Argentine Universities Program take courses from just one or as many as four Buenos Aires universities: Fundacion Universidad del Cine, Universidad de Buenos Aires, Universidad del Salvador, or Universidad Torcuato Di Tella. All university classes are taught in Spanish and integrated with full degree-seeking students. Some of the strongest departments available at the four Buenos Aires universities are history, political science, economics, international studies, philosophy, social science, urban studies, and literature. Students may also be elect to participate in some of the IFSA academic tracks which include: cinema studies; diversity, minority, and gender studies; and human rights.
While in Buenos Aires, students live with host families. Students can get involved with the local community through volunteer projects and may have language tutors for help with navigating the university system. The program offers students a wide variety of field trips both in the city and in the surrounding areas. Trips to cultural events in the city include football matches, nights at the theater, beginning tango classes, polo lessons, and several others. Excursions may include visiting places like San Martin de los Andes or Bariloche, as well as a day trip to Colonia, Uruguay.
