Overview

This study abroad program through IFSA allows you to take courses at the University of Auckland, New Zealand’s largest and highest ranked university. You can take classes in a variety of subjects, alongside local students. You will live in an off campus apartment.

Academics

Located in the heart of Auckland, The University of Auckland offers classes across a wide array of disciplines. Popular subjects include Anthropology, Economics, Engineering, Marine Studies, Natural Sciences, Sociology, and Maori studies. Some subjects have restrictions for visiting students, which you can view on the IFSA website. You will take classes alongside full-degree local students. You will most likely take a traditional course load - four courses worth the equivalent of four Columbia points each.

You should note the different academic calendar in New Zealand, which varies significantly from the American academic calendar. Approximate dates are available on the IFSA website.

Program Features

The University of Auckland is located in New Zealand's largest city and commercial center. The city is an eclectic mix of New Zealand, Asian and South Pacific cultures. The University of Auckland's main campus is bordered by two city parks and adjacent to the city center. You will live in an off campus apartment, usually with other international students and New Zealanders. As a visiting student, you will have the access to the University’s student union and student clubs and social activities. IFSA will provide administrative support for your experience.
