The Center for Undergraduate Global Engagement (UGE) is pleased to announce the Global Learning Scholarships (GLS) to help students fund their participation in a global learning opportunity this summer. These scholarships will be applied toward partial tuition charges for individual programs offered through UGE.

Eligibility

You are eligible for the Global Learning Scholarships (GLS) if you are:

• A Columbia University or non-Columbia undergraduate participating in a Columbia-Led summer program who demonstrates financial need
• A Columbia University undergraduate participating in a Columbia-Approved summer program who demonstrates financial need and plans to defray some or all of Columbia's study abroad fee

The following Columbia-Led summer programs have funding opportunities through the GLS or other sources:

• Columbia Summer Core in Paris

• Columbia Summer in Paris

• Columbia Summer in Venice

• Columbia Summer Research Practicum in Public Humanities and Hellenic Studies

• Columbia Summer Practicum: Neuroscience in Paris

• Columbia Summer Research Practicum in Global Behavioral Science (GLOBES)

• Columbia Summer Undergraduate Math Research Program in Paris

• Kyoto Summer: Classical Japanese

• Kyoto Summer: Modern Japanese

• Virtual Columbia Summer: Chinese Language

To Apply

Scholarship applications will be made available to students once they have opened a qualifying UGE program application. The Summer 2023 GLS applications are due on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 (closes at 11:59 PM EST) or by the program application deadline, whichever occurs first.

Award Notification & Funding Amounts

​Students will typically be notified of awards before they must confirm their participation in their Columbia-Led program.

Please note that GLS awards for Columbia-Led programs typically do not exceed $3,000.

Columbia University students participating in a Columbia-Approved or Petitioned summer program may apply for the GLS to cover part or all of the Columbia study abroad fee. The GLS cannot be used to cover tuition or support costs for programs outside of Columbia University.
