Overview

The CIEE Czech Republic: Central European Studies program in Prague offers a combination of courses taught by CIEE and Charles University. You will explore the history and culture of this dynamic Central European nation, the Czech Republic, through a wide array of courses.

Academic Program

You will have the ability to choose from classes at CIEE Prague and Charles University alongside local Czech students. Charles University, founded in 1348, is the oldest and largest university in the Czech Republic. You can take courses on various subjects such as Economics, History, Philosophy, Religion, Psychology, Literature, and more.

You will begin the program with an onsite orientation that will introduce you to various aspects of life in Prague and useful Czech language basics to help facilitate cultural immersion.

Program Features

You have the option of living in a homestay, shared apartment with other CIEE students, or in a dormitory-style residence hall with a mix of CIEE, local, and international students.

You will participate in a wide variety of cultural excursions and day trips around the Czech Republic organized by CIEE.

To apply, you must complete the two steps below. Deadlines vary, and some applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Therefore, you should complete the steps below simultaneously:

  • To apply for Columbia clearance (approval) to study abroad, click on "Start Your Application" on this webpage. Clearance applications are approved on a rolling basis until the application deadline listed on this webpage.
  • To apply for program admission, complete an external application directly on the program webpage. This program is selective and requires the submission of a portfolio. Note that this deadline may be in advance of the Columbia clearance deadline.
