Overview

The College Year in Athens (CYA) program places an emphasis on learning beyond the classroom and will offer you hands-on learning experiences in the abundant environment of Greece. The curriculum spans a wide range of disciplines from ancient to contemporary studies and focuses on the history and civilization of Greece and the East Mediterranean region.

Academics

CYA will provide you with an academically rigorous program of studies combined with the vibrant experience of day-to-day contact with the people, monuments, and landscape of Greece – a rapidly changing country with a uniquely varied past. The CYA experience is designed to guide you to a greater understanding and appreciation of ancient, medieval, and modern Greece and the surrounding region. The curriculum is comprised of a wide variety of courses, such as Archeology, Art History, Classics, Environmental Studies, Political Science, and more.

Program Features

You will have the option of living in a homestay or CYA apartment. The homestay experience is not simply an alternative to the CYA apartments; instead, it is an enrichment of the study abroad experience, an immersion in Greek culture and the Greek family lifestyle, and an opportunity to develop life-long relationships and a second home halfway across the world.

CYA is guided by the philosophy that the engagement of the senses is essential to learning. You will be immersed into a program of studies that emphasize in-the-field instruction and direct contact, wherever possible, with the sites, monuments, landscape and works of art hitherto relegated to the lecture hall or library.
