Overview

Come to Madrid and take your advanced Spanish language skills on the CIEE Spain: Liberal Arts in Madrid program. This program is ideal for motivated students who only want to take courses taught in Spanish at CIEE's partner schools, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (UC3M) or Universidad Antonio Nebrija (UAN)'s Centro de Estudios Hispánicos. To participate, you need to complete a minimum of 4 semesters of Spanish, or the equivalent, prior to departure.

Academics

All students must enroll in the semester-long Advanced Spanish language, which is designed to prepare you for classes at the partner schools and adjust to the academic culture. The remaining courses can be a selection of UC3M or UAN courses taken alongside international or local students.

At UC3M, you may take courses across several fields, including Art History, Economics, Film, International Studies, Political Science, Sociology, and more.

At UAN's Centro de Estudios Hispánicos, you may take courses across several fields, including the Arts, Film, History, Literature, Spanish Language Studies, and more.

Program Features

You will have the option to live in either a homestay, in a student residencia (residence hall) with a mix of CIEE, local and international students, or in a shared apartment with CIEE students.

To encourage language and cultural acquisition, all participants of the program agree to speak Spanish throughout their study abroad experience.

Outside the classroom, all courses are complemented with activities and excursions that delve deeper into Madrid's multicultural traditions.
